Tessellation: Keitora Gridlock

Sorry about the length of this description, but I have a lot to say about this one.

My goal with this piece was to make a tessellation that will go together in many ways, and to tell a story in the process. The top portion of the drawing contains 24 kei trucks, drawn at 24 different angles.

This represents the worst possible traffic jam; everyone is trying to go in different directions, and there’s not an inch of room to move or rearrange to establish a traffic flow. Below, the drawing transitions into an organized street with two lanes going each way, representing the liberation from a binding stalemate.

Note that in the spirit of making a non-uniform tessellation, I also made each of the 40 total trucks a different color. Also note that the trucks can also tessellate by bringing the front corners of three of them together and repeating the resulting shape, although I felt that including that pattern in my drawing as well would make it look too cluttered.

The Sgt. Camoplz character is modeled after imhappyplz, but redrawn to display comfortably within the window frame, and with more vividly colored eyes and a slightly curled tongue. The pattern was made with official army digital camouflage colors.

Program: MS Paint, which was a real job, since without the ability to rotate 60^o I had to draw 6 versions of the truck from scratch before I could use horizontal and vertical flips to produce additional orientations.

Estoy apesadumbrado sobre el largo de esta descripcion, pero tengo mucho para decir sobre esta pieza.

Mi meta con esta pieza fue hacer un “tessellation” (traduccion?) que puede estar montado en muchas maneras, y para decir una historieta en el proceso. La cima contiene 24 camiones kei, dibujado a 24 angulos diferentes.

Esta represente el peor atasco posible; Todos intentan ir en direcciones diferentes, y no hay una pulgada de espacio para moverse o reordenarse para establecer un flujo de trafico. Abajo, el dibujo haga una transicion a una calle organizada, con dos carriles en ambos directiones, representando liberacion de un punto muerto.

Nota que en el espiritu de hacer un “tessellation” desuniforme, hice cada uno de los 40 camiones un color diferente. Tambien nota que los camiones pueden tambien “tessellate” por adjuntar los rincones adelantes de tres camiones y repetir la forma resultanda, pero siente incluir eso diseno tambien haria mi dibujo demasiado abarrotado.

El caracter Sgt. Camoplz es modelado basado en imhappyplz, pero redibujado para mostrar comodamente en el marco de la ventana, y con ojos de color mas vivo y una lengua ligeramente rizada.

Programa: MS Paint, que fue un trabajo dificil, porque sin la capacidad de girar una imagen 60^o tuve que dubujar 6 versiones de la camion desde cero antes podia usar tiros horisontales y verticales para producir orientaciones diferentes.

El tomano de bajar es 1308 x 1444 pixeles.
