This is an ambigram tessellation of the words “Amish Mafia.” There are two illusions to be seen in this one image.
1. Each upside down item is the same exact image as a right side up one, just rotated 180 degrees. However, the right side up items appear convex while the upside down ones appear concave, because we naturally assume the light comes from the top of the picture and interpret the shading accordingly.
2. If you move your eyes across the image, the items in your periphery appear to move slightly. The convexity and concavity suggest different distances, so you subconsciously anticipate the items shifting in your line of sight based on your perspective.
I’ve also included a file to use this as a windows startup screen, because what better way to start your computer, than with an homage to people who think your computer is evil?
